The writer Lubov Petrovna Miller, the author of well known books “Holy Martyr Russian Great Countess Elizaveta Fedorovna” and “Royal Family — Victim of the Dark Force”, visited Russia in the summer of 2001, timing her visit to the days of commemoration of the Holy Royal passion-bearers and the martyr great countess Elisaveta. On July 17th in the city of Ekaterinburg, Lubov Petrovna had a discussion with the monastic and the laity at the St. Ignatius hermitage of the Novo-Tikhvinsky nunnery. This discussion is offered for your attention.

“Whence Shall I Start Weeping”. Interpretation of selected passages from the Great canon of St. Andrew of Crete that is usually read in the first four days of Great Lent and on the fifth week during a service called “Standing of St. Mary of Egypt.” Recommended for the general public.
“The Life of Nun Magdalina (Dosmanova)”. The life of the last pre-revolutionary abbess of the Novo-Tikhvinsky monastery, nun Magdalina. She took on the guidance in the abbey at the very end of the XIXth century. Not only did she have to manage the huge household of one of the largest monasteries, but she was also trying to preserve the spirit of piety and purity of Orthodoxy during the years of persecution.
“Spiritual Conversations (5 parts)”. There, with reference to contemporary life, the aspects of the teachings of the Holy Fathers about prayer, struggle with passions, the main Christian virtues are opened up, and answers are offered to many questions troubling the faithful. Recommended for the general public.
“Great Lent Teachings”. Here is a collection of sermons delivered by abbot Abraham (Reydman) in the days of the Great Lent and the weeks leading into Great Lent, mostly in the year 2000.

This book by archimandrite Boris (Kholchev) briefly introduces catehumens to the teaching of the Orthodox Church about God — the Creator of the visible and invisible world, about the fall of the first people and the redemption of the whole humanity by the Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ. This book will help catehumens to accept worthily the truly great Sacrament of Holy Baptism.
